Anticipated Disruptions Due to NATO Summit – June 24–25, 2025
Dear Valued Customer,
We would like to inform you that the NATO Summit 2025 will take place on 24–25 June in The Hague, The Netherlands. While the summit itself is scheduled for two days, logistics operations across the region—including near Amsterdam Airport Schiphol—are expected to be significantly impacted from 23 to 27 June due to extensive security measures and traffic restrictions.
According to information provided by Dutch authorities:
The government has advised businesses to work from home during this period where possible.
There will be road closures, restricted access to key logistics zones, additional security checks, and reduced staffing across airlines, handlers, trucking firms, and suppliers.
Air operations at Schiphol will be reduced, with one runway reserved for official use and an estimated 25–30% drop in capacity expected.
As our warehouse is located directly adjacent to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, we anticipate substantial disruption in and around our facility. In response, we are taking all available measures to mitigate the impact, although many challenges remain outside our control. Our partners—including transport companies, ground handlers, and airlines—are currently unable to provide service guarantees.
To navigate this period, we are implementing the following contingency measures:
- Flexible working shifts at our NL office and warehouse (early, late, and night shifts) to avoid peak-hour congestion.
- Where possible, airfreight tendering will be prioritized at night, depending on the operational availability of airline handlers.
- Same-day delivery to airlines will not be feasible during this period due to limited capacity and security restrictions.
- Pick-ups and deliveries are expected to face significant delays, and many suppliers may close or reduce operations for the week.
In light of the current uncertainties, we strongly recommend the following actions:
- Build in extra lead time for all shipments (exact delays cannot yet be quantified).
- Avoid scheduling shipments between 23 and 27 June, if operationally possible.
- Prioritize only critical or urgent cargo to minimize risk of missed deadlines.
- Limit non-essential instructions or change requests, and defer these to the following week whenever possible.
We will provide daily operational updates next week to keep you informed as the situation develops. We expect to have a clearer overview of the operational impact by Monday, June 23.
Should you have any questions or require support in adjusting your shipping plans, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this challenging period.
